Repost: Henrietta Muir Edwards Park

A new comment on this old post raised my eyebrows and caught my attention.  I feel sometimes that I don’t pay enough attention to what’s going on in Edmonton.  It appears that a popular foot bridge will be closed down and removed.  I do support the LRT expansion but is this the best area for a crossing?   It’s an issue I’ll have to look into further.  Sadly not just the bridge will be affected by the new LRT line.  One of my favorite spots in the river valley will change.

Here you can see the foot bridge that is targeted for replacement in the background:

Am with a group “Save Edmonton’s Downtown Footbridge” Facebook site–trying to save the Cloverdale footbridge. So many photographers use this spot. Why is that? Please join us in writing to city council councillors@edmonton.ca telling them it really is a gem, and should be saved.
Please spread this message to photographers who likely use the bridge area for wedding pictures (and so it should be used for wedding pictures). Eric”

Original Post:

I went for a Sunday morning walk at the Henrietta Muir Edwards Park in Edmonton.  To catch the best light I should have been there a lot earlier.  But, I managed to take some pictures that I really like.  This first picture is one of my favorites taken during the the walk.  As you can see the weather was great.

The second snap was taken on a foot bridge crossing the river.  Edmonton has many small parks peppered up and down the river valley.  This park is across from downtown.  Off to the left side on the river is the old school paddle boat the Edmonton Queen Riverboat.

    1. Thanks for the information Eric. I would be sad if the trees were cut down. The bridge is a bit old and could use some updating. I don’t know if I agree on how the city is doing the “updating” though.
